The Upchurch Kids used mom and dad’s $20 plus $10 from the Barth family. They were able to convince the dynamic and remarkably friendly owners of Bottle and Bean (in Heritage-part of Dinners at Home) to allow them to buy $30 worth of their exclusive coffee at the wholesale cost. The coffee is special as it is not available in grocery stores. We especially loved the name of one of the varieties-HeavenScent. The kids repackaged the coffee into small ‘one pot’ bags and sold them for $3 each. The amount of coffee provided was well above what the kids had expected and they quickly raised about $81 in just a few days.

Our family searched around the house and found items that we no longer needed or no longer fit and posted them for sale on ebay. We used our seed money to pay for any listing and sale fees. All profits went directly to Mission India, and we have a less cluttered house! The neatest part was being able to include information about Mission India within each item’s description. It included a link to the MI website and encouraged others to make additional donations there. I don’t know if anyone did, but I received a few emails from people around the country who were very supportive and encouraging of the project. They loved being able to bid on something and know that the profits were being used for God’s glory. The kids learned some geography in the process too, as we were able to locate cities all around the U.S. on a map as we wrapped the packages up for shipping. It was a fun project. We easily tripled our seed money. To God be the glory!

My parents, Dale and Jan Christner, used their seed money to take out an ad in the Wake Weekly so they could clean out their garage and sell some “treasures”. My daughter Kara took charge of some things she had to sell and also made LOTS of cookies to sell at the yard sale. We used the seed money for balloons (extra publicity) and posters, etc. to explain Mission India. It was a success! Kara and everyone here are all very excited to bring in the multiplied money.

Here are a few ideas:

From Pastor Cosgrove: Cul-de-sac Yard sale inviting the 6 homes in the circle to donate items to be sold so that the proceeds will go to Hope’s mission work.

From Sandy Nokes: Pet grooming store is selling Gourmutt Meat Loaf and Gourmutt Cookies. Date - June 2-4.

From Jan and Dale Christner: A 28 home subdivision Yard Sale will take place on Sat June 14th. Youth are also cooking brownies and cookies to sell. Date - Saturday June 14. Our address is 8017 Fairlake Dr. W-F. We are about 1-1/4 miles west on Purnell Rd. which runs off Capital. Our subdivision is included as well as 2 or 3 others connected. Signs and balloons will be placed on Capital Blvd. (Rt. 1) at Jenkins Rd., Thompson Mill Rd. and Purnell Rd., at the entrance to each subdivision and on each participating family’s mailbox. Time is 7 AM-12 Noon.

From Hope Preschool Staff: Parents night out, drop your kids off and have a night out with out the kids! The cost is $12 per child. All proceeds will suport Mission India Project. Date: 06/13/2008. Call the preschool, 919-453-0388.

From Sue & Bill Seaman; Karin & Steve Edwards. We are making hand crafted greeting cards for sale. Please contact us at: sueseaman@bellsouth.net
Date: May 21 - July 12

From Terry Murphy: What better way to multiply God’s treasure than by multiplying the natural gifts he has provided for us. In my garden, I have numerous herbs that spread and multiply prolifically (Oregano, mint, sage, lemon balm, etc.) as well as water garden plants. My project is to use the $10 seed money to purchase small pots and tops soil to transplant some of these useful herbs and sell them at a public location for prices well below what you would pay for the same thing at any local garden center. Contact: 919-556-3979 or tmurphy005@nc.rr.com - Call if you wish to purchase any of these herbs at $2 per pot.

From Bill & Darlene McKenney & Karie Cook: A joint Yard Sale will be held on July 11th & 12th at 4049 Bruce Garner Road, Franklinton, NC. There will be many interesting items for sale. This is a yard sale with many families supplying items. Cookies and drinks will be served. Contact numbers: Tel: 919-389-5433, 919-494-5629, 919-562-7344 or email to brmckenney@embarqmail.com.

From Brenda Duensing: I’ve taken 6″ clay pots, and painted them with different designs — cat, bumblebee, frog, ladybug, flowers, butterfly, stars and stripes, etc. and put a couple of seed packets with them and am selling them for $7. You can use them for chips, candy, store pencils, and of course, use for plants. To date, I’ve sold seven and have orders for several more. Contact: You can email me at brenda.duensing@embarq.com, or call me at 919-554-7433 weekdays between 8 AM and 4 PM. I really can’t mail any pots, but if you live in or around Wake Forest, NC, we can make arrangements for delivery or pickup. Thank you.
